Greg posted this on the SPS BBS, and a Canadian member posted something similar three days earlier, on the 11th

"South Park" – New Episodes
Wednesday, October 8 at 10:00 p.m.

Last time around, "South Park" gave viewers AIDS, mice with penises attached, Canadians on strike, half of Britney Spears's head, porn-addicted adults and a way to "Cheese Your F-cking brains out!" Now that Cartman and Kyle are cured, Kenny is clean and Stan's dad is, um, satisfied, see what's in store for the boys of South Park in the much anticipated hour-long season premiere! Viewers won't want to miss a single new episode. COMEDY CENTRAL's not just sure of it: they're HIV positive.

COMEDY CENTRAL

Canadians will get this episode on Friday, October 17. smile.gif

sp-cartman.gif SWEET! They must have something pretty big planned - better not start this one 6 days in advance!

So, by "hour-long", do they actually mean 40 minutes with 20 minutes of adverts?
Will
44 minutes, but yeah, I didn't see "commercial-free" in there.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhh!!!!

Difficult to really know if the 'hypothesis' of an hour long episode (eek!!!!) is genuine ... but I liked the way Greg's intro was written.

(Who is Greg, btw?)

The mouse running with the grown penis wobbling around on it's back, quite 'realistically'(!), it seemed to me, was one of the highlights of the SP of the first part of the series/season. That episode in itself wasn't a SP classic but those shots of the mouse, even in blurriness, were superb classic SP moments.

I think the lovely 'chodaboy' smilie just aboot gets it right. smile.gif

yay!!!! This is gonna be gooood.....

So, I never really had to watch a new episode online. Do they in fact show the episode the night it airs, both on tv and online? I'd hate to miss it. I don't have cable or a TV.
Will
Depending on time zones, it's on the site one to four hours after it hits cable.

Anyone know when the service will be available in the UK? Or am i gonna have to stick to the old torrents again?
Will
Back to torrents. If Viacom and its subsidiary Paramount Comedy 1 can't work it out, that's what I'd do.

I. Am. Freaking. Out. Already. sp-tweek.gif

Especially because of the uncertainty of being able to see it as soon as it's aired because I'll have a crappy uni internet network at the time, and i heard it can't stream some stuff and shit sp-tweek.gif

(On the other hand, I kind of hope I've got a life by the time and don't really care if I can't see it right then...)
Will
I guess this is the full hour we've been promised...

Comedy Central's Fall TV Schedule says this:
QUOTE
Wednesday Oct 08 2008

09:30 PM
South Park
Make Love, Not Warcraft (1008)
The boys must find a way to stop a mad gamer who is destroying World of Warcraft, their favorite online role playing game.

10:00 PM
South Park
TBD (1208)

10:30 PM
The Sarah Silverman Program
Yada yada yada

tuhinal
I don't care how long it is as long as it is good.

Thanks Greg biggrin.gif , but - the HOUR long episode idea is still a bit of an enigma ... as per Will posting 'your' SPS BBS post here.

Vids and pics of very cool Russian South Park fans protesting about SP being possibly removed from a Russian broadcaster have been posted at SPS news. Very cool people coming out to make an effort and not willing to deal with silliness in the face of supposed, eh, 'correctness' and/or 'morality'.
Will
He's Greg here, GregW over at SPS.

And it's not so much South Park as the channel that's airing it, 2x2, that's in trouble. South Park would just be the cartoon that caused it to lose its broadcast license.
Kitten
A Russian Religious group opposing South Park's language and content was the origin of the Russian TV Channel being threatened with it's licence being withdrawn.

From article above:
The Russian Union of Evangelical Christians is urging prosecutors to bring criminal charges against a TV channel that airs the show, saying the animated comedy contains "covert and overt propaganda of homosexuality and pedophilia as norms of sexual life," according to the Russian News and Information Agency.

Although the show is broadcast on an adult-themed network, group leader Konstantin Bendas maintains the smutty, sly subversion created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone's show is detrimental to young audiences.

"We have received some 15 reports by experts and they all agree that broadcasting the cartoon has a negative impact on viewers, especially on children and teenagers," Bendas told the Russian news agency.

---------------------------

It seems to me at least that the mooted hour long mid-season premiere episode of South Park is no longer a runner. Anyone know for sure?
Will
Runner?

CC has reverted to a half-hour premiere instead of the hour one. SPS hasn't officially said anything about the premiere yet.

"A runner" = a possibility ... so to speak

I think it comes from horse racing parlance.
