The latest video blog by South Park editor Keef Bartkus. The first half is about the making of Imaginationland Part II, the second half is ... well, see for yourself.

Maybe no-one should post or link Keef's stuff here anymore out of respect to him. He did post his stuff on public sites but still.
The second bit of that vid is weird: Matt looking bizarre WITH glasses when used to look 'wrong' without them, lil baby 'I can't take a joke about Lego' Butters, various girls, including an ex, and John Stamos (or staymoist)!
I don't get Keef's editing style here and in his other stuff. Often it looks to me like the BBC's attempt at SFX-ing 'live' performances on the now defunct but hugely popular show Top of The Pops in the 80s when we thought that those screen effects were hi-tech!.

I don't really get his editing style either... And how did he come up with the idea of adding THAT video to the end of THAT blog...?
I still can't help but wonder what the hell motivates him to record those video blogs after staying up for 1000 hours and working his ass off through the whole night.

You keerazy kids these days... It's the RAGE before the slumbah... Maybe it's like a cooldown exercise after the big workout. I get it, and have been diggin' on it awhile... I'm awful glad he graces us with the post SP wind down trippiness.

Ta, Ronald of Graviness. I got (and I think everyone else 'got' this too) the 'big fatty'/very-possible-'aceed'/whatever drug thang as well - but it's just so ... unimaginative.
So, the poor eejit (decent skin and all that he is) is knackered, wants to wind down (whatever way he chooses to) and does some video blogging with his own editing stylee - but it's tired in itself. Is all.
Even when I was watching Top of the Pops in the 80s we were going - what the hell are these guys on?
For me own drug o'choice, I'll still take the glass o'w(h)ine any day. And Santa would too!
Where can any crew member go after SP? It's a very particular, even uniquely, produced show.

Pshhhhhhhh. I sent him the video for Firestarter way way back, and he told me something about a video he did for one of their songs. "Supposedly they've seen the bootleg video I did back in '97 Prodigy vs Public Enemy but I've never heard from them about it. That video mash-up is what got me the job at South Park." That's from the reply he sent me. Like I said, I dig it, that's all that matters... Maybe if he edited videos to fit in with some old Irish ditty, then your panties might get all bunched over it. I guess you could ask him... Now leave mine alone!!! ( ) And why shouldn't anybody post his videos up here? Do you think he has a problem with that or something?

The vid he sent to SP as his resume/show reel was a mash-up of 2 songs/vids one of which is The Prodigy's amazing song (and vid) 'Poison'.
Of course, if he edited vids to fit Irish 'ditties' that would be MUCH better - and that's exactly what I was saying! Not. C'mon, gis a break.
If you can, please do ask him if he minds anyone posting links to his pics or vids cos if he did have a problem with that we'd know.
Like I said I think he's a decent bloke, he works damn hard and I'd hate to think he gets in any shit, not just cos of what he posts but cos it's posted elsewhere.

Just to dispel this myth, there is no indication that he expects these videos to be private. This one is tagged with the words "south park 1111 imaginationland keef bartkus matt stone john stamos vegas trip", so a search for "south park" reveals it readily. As he says on his YouTube page, "I love making videos and I'll share them with you. Enjoy!" As to posting it here, that's easy: it relates to South Park, this is a South Park forum. Q.E.D.

OK - fair dues. No-one suggested anything of a myth. We don't know what Keef Bartkus's intentions are about posting these pieces.
I've posted links of his here so I was just trying a, ahem, sensitive line...

Dammit, you made me hafta look up Q.E.D. Well, at least I know what it means now... Yeah, he already had his SP image stuff taken off, so I guess he can share pretty much all else he wants to. He even joked with censoring himself. I'ma keep checking his page out, because I likes the weirdness. Q. E. D. Booyah!!! Damn, I need some K. F. C., STAT!!!

Providing links to them elsewhere helps him share his videos. Why wouldn't he want that?

This is ridiculous. What I meant was, not wanting us to provide links to his videos to help him share them makes no sense. I honestly have never heard of this, and I think you must have some reason in mind for believing that he doesn't want these videos shared as widely as possible. If you can, please provide it, otherwise the discussion should return to the topic.

Oct 26 2007, 02:14 AM
I suggestedmaybe not reposting out of respect and advocated some sensitivity - that's all. If someone else had suggested that perhaps this would be a different discussion.
As always you're right and it is ridiculous!
Back on topic - Thanks to Keef Bartkus, Editor at SPS for posting & sharing these vids. I'm sorry to see he was censored and the rest of the pics edited together on that piece seemed kinda weird.

You don't post videos on the world wide web to keep them a secret. Once you post anything it's fair game. Who gives a fuck where they're re-posted, because if the videos are popular, they will be re-posted.
That's life on the internet.

Here's some other interesting bits of Keef's work.
Youtube gives you the option to not let others post your video on their sites. Obviously, if he was concerned about it he would of turned that option on. And posting videos on the worlds BIGGEST video website, he had no intention of keeping these low-key. End of story.

If he were posting them on MySpace or LiveJournal, I'd agree with you - he could mark the entries they would be found in as private or friends-only.
What I didn't know is that YouTube offers the same option, so I signed up just to check that out - there's public, and there's private (up to 26 people max). Keef set his videos to public, which means you didn't have to be his friend to see them, and you didn't need to join a board such as this one to find out about his blog. It follows that if he had set them to private, he wouldn't want them reposted elsewhere.

This is funny; the thread containing the blog about the episode has more views than the thread containing the actual episode.
My one grievance about 1111: the Lollypop King dude should have been the Taco Dude from "Cancelled." We only saw Taco dude (fuck, what was his name) in the background of a couple of shots. I was hoping that he would have more lines.

Yeah that's awesome. Does someone know a good place to watch the last 3 episodes in streaming video or something, it doesnt have to be spectacular. Coolcoates gave me some torrents thing, but it wouldn't work for me. I'm too lazy to wait around for it on TV. I wanna watch 'em now. Or soon, preferably back here. Naked from the waist down...

His name was Najix, and he's a shapeshifter. The boys seem to have accepted him best as an ice cream pooping taco, so that's how he appears in these eps.

I post my videos because it's a form of therapy. It's hard to stay up three days in a row sober. Believe me no one here is on anything, there's way too much stress and pressure. Wednesday night is a different story. When I get home from SP I push my body hard to stay up and record something, plus try and mix something interseting to put on the end. I want the information to get out there, there's not that much leaked out of this building. Why make a video private? Where is the fun in that? I love causing a stir, getting in trouble, I'm not going anywhere. I take my videos down on my own. Even if only a couple thousand people saw it, they know more than they knew before. I only get to do this fourteen weeks a year, I like to have as much fun as possible!! I'm the biggest South Park fan you'll ever meet and I get to put it all together!! I wish you could see what it's like when Trey acts out a scene. I wish you could hear what goes on in my edit bay 4am Wednesday morning. How hard we laugh even when we are on our 100th hour. One day when all of this is all over I'll write a book.
