LOS ANGELES, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Red Rock Pictures Holdings, Inc. announced today that it has agreed to finance the P&A and marketing costs for the upcoming release of "Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo". Hitting theaters nationwide on November 9, 2007, moviegoers will get a backstage pass to the hottest show in town. Fans will rock out with renowned and legendary singer/bassist Les Claypool, of the Grammy®-nominated group Primus, when he makes his acting debut (ironically as the band's drummer), in the rocking and entertaining comedy. Written and directed by Les Claypool, who has always been revered as a beacon of true originally, "Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo" is a side-splitting music mockumentary for the massive jam band universe, that pokes loving fun at the legacies of cult bands and their fans.
"Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo" takes viewers on a humorous ride with jam band "Electric Apricot" as they navigate the music scene, make their first record, and their debut appearance at the one and only Festeroo. Mr. Claypool's goal for the film was to create a documentary that would stand out from the other music documentaries all the while showcasing another side of the contemporary music culture. What he achieved was not only enlightenment, but also an amusing film that everyone is sure to enjoy.
Rock legends such as the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir, Phish's Mike Gordon as well as Warren Haynes and Matt Abts from Gov't Mule, appear in this uproariously entertaining film. "Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo" also features classic cameo appearances from Seth Green (Austin Powers in Goldmember, The Italian Job) and "South Park's" Matt Stone and was produced by Jason McHugh (producer of debut features for Trey Parker from "South Park").
National Lampoon will support "Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo" with a major marketing blitz for both the theatrical and DVD release of the movie, and will distribute and release the DVD in the first-quarter of 2008 through National Lampoon's Home Entertainment.
From legendary Primus bassist Les Claypool comes "Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo," a spoof about jam bands told in the style of This Is Spinal Tap and A Mighty Wind. In the spring of 2005, Mr. Claypool set forth to make a documentary reflecting an element of contemporary music culture which had yet to be fully examined. The notion was to capture something raw and original. Mr. Claypool searched for something unpretentious and genuine and he yearned to make a film that would stand out from other music documentaries. Who he found was "Electric Apricot" and what he achieved was enlightenment. Unexpectedly, while searching for enlightenment the duality of existence was unveiled.
Striving for the glory of the Grateful Dead and Phish is "Electric Apricot," Claypool's fictional traveling jam band. The film follows the journey of "Electric Apricot" as they hit the road to make it to the pinnacle event of their career, Festeroo. The members of the band go by the assumed names, Steve "Aiwess" Trouzdale on bass and vocals, Steve "Gordo" Gordon on guitar and vocals, Herschal Tambor Brillstien on keyboards and vocals, and Lapland "Lapdog" Miclovik on drums and vocals.
