If anything, P.F. Chang's China Bistro has a sense of humor.
The Scottsdale-based restaurant chain took a starring role in a recent episode of Comedy Central's "South Park" - and it's not the first time.
In an episode titled "More Crap," Randy Marsh (Stan's dad) takes what could be biggest 'Number 2" in the history of the world. He must convince a European society, which officially tracks such records, to recognize the effort.
P.F. Chang's was given as the reason for Marsh's constipation.
This wouldn't seem to exactly be uplifting publicity for an eatery known for its annual Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon and ½ Marathon.
The Buzz called restaurant spokeswoman Laura Cherry hoping she was in a good mood. She laughed when asked about the South Park/P.F. Chang's connection.
She's seen the "More Crap" episode in Season 11.
"It's the third or fourth time. We've appeared in many of their episodes," she said. "Their studio is near one of our restaurants in California, so they're frequent diners of ours."
Although constipation and fast-casual dining aren't complimentary phrases, a mention on South Park is powerful branding. It remains the highest-rated series on Comedy Central, a network seen in more than 91 million homes in the United States.
A Comedy Central spokeswoman said co-creators and executive producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone "have no bad experiences with P.F. Chang's to report and in fact "they love the food."
Parker's apparently loves the Chang's Spicy Chicken and always "eats too much of it" when he orders.
Hopefully, he's not confined to the bathroom for longer than normal.
