Bullying has become a national health epidemic and South Park Elementary is not immune in an all-new episode of "South Park" titled, "Butterballs," premiering Wednesday, April 11 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. Stan wants to raise awareness about the dangers of bullying by shooting a big dance video. Will he able to handle the pressure that goes along with the notoriety of taking on such a worthy cause? press image 1 press image 2 clip -------------------- ![]() |

Sounds great :). Could this be something about "Invisible Children"?

It's South Park, so I love it. But it's also not great South Park, so I'm wanting more. Hope this episode is better than the last few.

Lol, Hopefully Butters will be integral, here. And Cartman. And hey, there is old Tweek in a press image... Look out!
-------------------- ![]() Anyways, last night I dreamed that you and your friends (who I guess were just made-up girls) were BBQing me in your back yard in the summer. And it was like a 'Cannibal-Bikini-Blowout.' And the cooking device was a giant grill that I was shackled to, but my head hung off the edge, and you and your friends would rub your asses/pussies in my face to muffle my screams, and giggle madly and joyously. |

I thought it was great. Especially all of the weird haircuts they have had on random adults, of late. Fucking awesome.
Being the smallest guy in virtually every class that I have ever been in, I certainly know a thing or two aboot bullying. The boys were relentless during my childhood and, ironically, it's the females that have a field-day with me as an adult. Good, good times. lol :sp-tweek: Without a sense of humor, I would probably be long gone by now. Bullying is, like, not coo. Poor Butters. The guy just can't catch a break. My fav lines... "You brought this on yourself, grandma..." "My child... Have you ever heard of a place called 'hell'?" Brennan, if you didn't like this one either, I'm worried about you, dude. -------------------- ![]() Anyways, last night I dreamed that you and your friends (who I guess were just made-up girls) were BBQing me in your back yard in the summer. Ok well... To me, this was a return to the average quality of the earlier episodes in this season. Last week's was definitely a gem, the rest have been alright - not bad but not particularly good either. Like someone said, they feel like they didn't have enough time to make them really good. They probably gave the Easter special a bit more time and thought than the rest of the episodes.
This one was basically pretty good, but could have been a lot better. It seemed half baked. There were many things that didn't really seem to follow through. Like, what was Stan's motivation in making the video exactly? It can be argued that he wanted to be popular and cool. Maybe it was the fame and potential money that attracted him. But they never made it clear what it was, and it's annoying to leave it for the viewer to decide, given that it was the major thing in the plot. Also, why was Cartman so enthusiastic about the video? What was in it for him? The grandma plotline didn't have a proper conclusion. It kind of seemed like she maybe learned her lesson but it seemed like a bit of a lame conclusion after being another major part of the plot. The ending was super stupid and retarded. Again, just seemed like an easy way out. The episode really didn't need another song, especially another of Trey's one man's, over length number that's totally unrelated to the story. And the jacking in San Diego thing wasn't really funny or didn't make sense if you have never heard of that saying and never will :P Other than that, I liked the basic idea of the story. The execution just wasn't that good. -------------------- |

What a great episode! It had so many scenes I enjoyed and is easily the best episode in this season so far. At least for me ;).
I think they did an excellent job in dealing with this topic. The toilet scenes were funny and the little bullied girl. Butters, Stan and Kyle had some touching scenes. Great music. And I am glad Jesus showed up again! :D QUOTE(nobby @ Apr 12 2012, 05:54 AM) It's about Jason Russell, creator of the famous KONY 2012 video. -------------------- |

I thought it kind of seemed to be about the Kony thing but I wasn't sure. I must be missing tons of background information because i didn't really get many of this episode's references if it really was about the Invisible Children. I've seen the video and that, but I still didn't see how this episode referenced or commented on it in any other way than just the fact that Stan was making a video for a cause. Can someone explain the references to me if there was something more to it than that?

I think the video itself was not inspired by Kony 2012. But Russell's organisation "Invisible Children" made several other videos before and as far as I know many of them were dance videos. So there might be a link here, but I haven't watched any of them.
The video was made by Stan Marsh and he was the star in it (the title credits), just like Jason Russell is the star of the Kony Video. The talkshow scene might be a reference as well, because Russell appeared a lot on television after the online success of KONY. But his video was not about bullying and so I quess this scene was inspired by other cases as well. What's for sure is that Kyle's San Diego line and the song came from Russell's breakdown. The religious comments fit because "Invisible Children" is a religious organisation. -------------------- |
