QUOTE(Cannibal Lover @ Jun 30 2009, 09:15 PM) Here's another one, from Uptown Magazine in Winnipeg: The lore of Les Claypool Primus' founder talks about his latest solo album, his fabled Metallica audition and working with some of pop culture's biggest weirdos From this one Claypool says about the SP theme song: "I had a record out at the time called Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel presents Highball with the Devil. I guess they (Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park's creators) were listening to it quite a bit and they contacted me to do the theme song. At the time, Primus just got a new drummer so I said, 'Why not have Primus do it?' We never thought South Park was going to get on TV, let alone become this huge thing." If no one is familiar with this album. It's gotta be my fav of anything he's done. Super funky fun shit! Highly recommend it!!! -------------------- ![]() |

In the last paragraph, he talks about how much easier it is to just go make a record than to just go make a film. Seriously, music is the better art form. You can let creativity fly in an instant, but the filmmaking thing is so fuckin tedious that a lot of the initial creativity in your head is lost in translation. I wish I would have become a musician. I did buy a bass, but it sits untuned in the corner. At least it's another reminder that I suck.

i used to love the mp when i went to utk. they have this great feature called secret history. when i was in college, though, they were bought by some conglomo and the content started to go down a bit. my dad sent me one a while ago and it was a sad shadow, not just in content but in graphic design as well.
and now that i read the new stuff, secret history is a sad shadow as well. it's all i, i, i... a far cry from the vivid scenes he used to craft of east tennessee life from the 1700s to the bootlegger days. -------------------- ![]() |
