Hi! I think many years ago I heard a song that sounded JUST like Swiss Colony Beef Log... it was some '80s song or something (it had the same beat or something) and I tried looking for what it was online... I couldn't find anything really, just ONE site saying it was "strikingly similar" to an '80s song by a band called Night Rider or something... and I still couldn't find anything more after that.
Could someone help me out and tell me what the original song is called? Thanks! |

...I got nothin'.
I'm sure the group you're thinking about is Night Ranger, not Night Rider. -------------------- Arrive alive.

QUOTE(Ray @ Oct 27 2007, 12:27 AM) It totally exists. The South Park Christmas album. Cartman sings it. -------------------- ![]() Anyways, last night I dreamed that you and your friends (who I guess were just made-up girls) were BBQing me in your back yard in the summer. And it was like a 'Cannibal-Bikini-Blowout.' And the cooking device was a giant grill that I was shackled to, but my head hung off the edge, and you and your friends would rub your asses/pussies in my face to muffle my screams, and giggle madly and joyously. |

Track 13 on the Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics CD
Swiss Colony Beef Log Performed by Eric Cartman The stockings are hung on the chimney And the presents are under the tree. And Mama's in the kitchen Makin' some …herbal tea. The windows are covered with frost. And the candles are all alight. But as I wander through this quiet house Something just doesn't seem right. You see, every year the neighbors bring us A Swiss Colony beef log. But the neighbors aren't around, around, around. There's no beef log to be found this year No beef log. Christmas isn't Christmas Without a Swiss Colony beef log. Without those cheeses and meats, I don't think I can get along. Mother tries to comfort me. She says, "Here, son, have some eggnog." But I fucking hate eggnog, Seriously. But what do I see Underneath the tree? Grandma got a Swiss Colony beef log Just for me! Aaaah-Aaaah-Aaaah! Babih! Swiss Colony beef log, baby! That's what Christmas is all about! A roly-poly Colonah beef log, lady, Makes a little boy scream and shout: "Deck the halls with boughs of Swiss Colony Falalalala, lala la la!" Sweet. As far as I'm concerned, this could be a parody of any Meat Loaf song -------------------- Arrive alive.

The Barnes & Noble review says:
QUOTE Perhaps most important are the contributions from Eric Cartman, who submits a musical masterpiece entitled "Swiss Colony Beef Log" -- a hilarious paean to the joys of packaged meats that sounds frighteningly similar to a Nightranger power ballad. Try "Sentimental Street" by Night Ranger. Actually the first thing that I thought of was "When I Was On Top Of You". And that was before realizing it was by the same person. ;) Here, listen to all three. Seriously, a lot of 80s songs have similarities so you probably won't find any one "original" source. |

QUOTE(Cannibal Lover @ Oct 29 2007, 10:56 AM) My volume level is at maximum and my Quicktime plugin should be working, but I'm not hearing a thing... WMP 11 played it just fine. The Night Ranger clip was too slow for me to compare to Cartman's, and "On Top of You" reminded me of Elton John's "Circle of Life." -------------------- Arrive alive.

Works for me in Firefox/Quicktime Plug-in 7.2.
As far as Night Ranger goes, there's also "Sister Christian", but I thought it was too dissimilar to mention. Dunno. |

Ok, sounds a bit similar... But yeah, I guess about 80% of all the 80's ballads have similarities with those.
