He's the only one of the boys--seems to be the only one in the whole school who is only called by his last name most of the time. That's kind of strange, don't you think? Stan, Kyle and Kenny rarely if ever call him Eric, but he doesn't say Marsh, Broflovski (today's spelling), and McCormick.

I remember YEARS ago at the old original crap site (www.crapcrapcrap.com), Jason told the story about how Cartman got his name--I don't remember it all that clearly anymore, but there was a guy named something Karfman that was a heavy set guy. Maybe he was the one that worked with Matt Stone doing landscaping work? Maybe if I try putting it though that archive thing I can find it....or maybe we can ask JASON to tell the story again and include the picture of the guy. The picture, as I remember, looked a like like the full grown successful Cartman that we saw in My Future Self and Me.

ANYWAY, in my opinion, the show has always been about Cartman. Trey even said in an interview, when he writes the show, he writes it in terms of this happens, and this is how Cartman reacts to it. Matt and Trey also have said in an interview that Cartman is more like each of them than Stan and Kyle, and if one was to run Jun's website through the babelfish interpreter, he says it too...and he's a room mate and he should know.

Cartman put some distance between himself and Karpman in "Scott Tenorman Must Die" when a courier called him Karpman. :) Cartman corrected him.
